(KFYI News) Phoenix Police say a good samaritan likely saved a little girl from being sexually assaulted.
Robert Ross, 18, was booked into jail on charges of kidnapping, sexual abuse and molestation of a child.
A woman at an apartment complex near 11th Avenue and Buckeye Road told police that she confronted a man who was holding a child on the ground.
Officer James Holmes said the woman had reason to be suspicious. He told KFYI, "Ross made some admissions to detectives about actually touching the victim, what he had been doing and that his intent was to actually have sex with this 8-year-old little girl."
Holmes said the witness saved the child from physical and mental stress.
